Carlisle – Rolling classes have been run on Thursday evening and the Wavehoppper event in April is to be run at the Sands by the club.
Sedbergh – A junior section has been started.
Duddon – Their junior WW racing team won the Team of the Year at the Cumbria Sports Awards. They are running a racing module for coaches too.
West Cumbria – A successful David Tee Memorial Race was run at Christmas.

RCO Report
Tow new LCOs have been appointed. SW LCO is Richard Simpson and Northern LCO is John Crosbie.  Coaching updates are taking place, 7th February 2010.

Mike Sunderland, LCO Eastern had a query about the BCU not releasing emails as it was a data protection issue, yet it is very difficult for the LCOs to contact coaches in their area. It was suggested that LCOs can use the list of emails for Cumbria Canoeists to get information out to coaches.

Nigel Timmins’s last report as SDO Northern Region
The canoeing leaflet for Derwent Water has now been published.  It has been supplied to local tourist providers and Keswick TIC.
The ‘Get Qualified’ funding is available from NSA but does not include Level 1 courses.  Cumbria Youth Alliance can provide some funding for this course. Cumbria Sport website has information about Deprived Area Grants which will provide 100% funding in some cases.
The Cumbria Canoeists Bursary was discussed and the meeting decided that the amount provided to an applicant should be £100 or 50%, whichever was the lesser.  (Does this mean per person or per course? This need clarifying at the next meeting)
The Ullswater race will take place on the 11th July 2010 at Outward Bound.

Access Report
Leven – Cedric is in discussion with the landowners about improving the access and egress information. Johan Hoving is now the advisor for the Leven.  Outside the Swan Hotel is a spawning ground so people should access downstream of it in deeper water. Egress is river right, upstream of the Haverthwaite Bridge, up a grassy bank.
We need access advisors for the Crake and Lower Derwent.
See the access page on Cumbria Canoeists website for up to date information on all rivers.

Treasurers Report
Barry Howell thanked Paul Wilson for the accounts and they were accepted on behalf of the meeting by Barry and Matt Ellis.

Elections
The following people were elected:
Chairman – Matt Ellis, proposed by Barry Howell, seconded by Steve Randles
Secretary – Barry Howell, proposed by Mike Sunderland, seconded by everyone!
Mike Sunderland gave a vote of thanks to Roger and Janice for all their efforts over the years.

AOB
Slime is not running any lectures this winter and a new venue is needed in South Lakeland for future years if anyone has any ideas. Rivers Publishing is to update the Lake District Whitewater Guide by Stuart Miller, so if you have any information please send to Slime.

The Cumbria Canoeists trailer is being split up.  Duddon will look after the trailer, wavehoppers, canoe and K1, Copeland will take the Fox slalom and West Cumbria the sea kayak. Booking the boats should be co-ordinated by Gavin as RCO.  This is to be discussed by Matt, Barry and Gavin.

Rainchasers have asked for a donation towards a new webcam at a cost of £350.  The meeting agreed to support the request.

Matt asked for further nominations for the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Canoeing in Cumbria.

Next Meeting 10th May, Golden Rule Ambleside, 7.30pm. Meet at Waterhead for a paddle at 6pm.
