Coaching

The Region can offer a wide range of coaching courses.  Training & assessment of BCU Coach qualifications are particularly well provided for, using the best of the local lakes & rivers.

For coaching purposes the region is divided into four areas overseen by the Regional Coaching Organiser (RCO).  Each of the four areas South (Kendal), East (Sedbergh), North (Keswick/Whitehaven) & South West (Ulverston/Barrow) has a Local Coaching Organiser (LCO) who is elected locally.  Go to Region Contacts tab for details.

Courses in kayaking & canoeing are available for all ages and levels of paddler from novice to expert.  All clubs within the region offer some form of introductory coaching often via the BCU star tests. The majority of clubs also offer specialist & more advanced coaching both in recreational and competitive paddlesport.  See the club index for details of the clubs in the region.

Aspirant level 5 coaches have started their own discussion site.  A number of level 5 coaches & aspirants are resident in Cumbria.
